Porsche Club Motorsport Champions Honoured at Awards Evening
A sell-out Porsche Club Motorsport awards dinner saw sponsors, competitors and guests enjoy a great evening at the Hilton Puckrup Hall Hotel near Tewkesbury, with the winners from across the four competitive series honoured on Saturday 24th of November. The evening also saw the final official function from Porsche Club Motorsport chairman Brendan Daly, who has completed a successful five-year term and was given an emotional send off by the massed diners.
“It has been a great year for Porsche Club Motorsport,” said Daly, “The competition on track was exhilarating and at times nail-biting, right down to the very last races. Similarly, the Speed and Hillclimb championships once again saw exceptionally close results and very worthy champions.”
The Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club National Hillclimb Championship field were the first to receive class and overall trophies, with Paul Howells claiming the overall title, followed by the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Speed Championship with Pirelli where David Dyson retained the championship he won for the first time in 2017. New for 2018 was the Restoracing Competition class for restored Boxsters who ran with the Porsche Club Championship field at two race meetings then held two exciting races of their own at the Festival of Porsche in September, Josh Morris, representing Porsche Centre Bolton, taking the top prize.
The Petro-Canada Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli season went down to the final event, as did several of the championships in a season that produced some superb competition across the Club’s activities, with Mark Sumpter taking the title ahead of Jonathan Evans. The teams title went to Strasse, who went on stage en masse to receive the award from Le Mans winner Richard Attwood.
Porsche Club Motorsport was delighted to have representatives of several major sponsors present for the evening, including title sponsors Pirelli and insurers Locktons, who sponsorerd the table win for the evening. The trophies for the Porsche Club Speed Championship and the Porsche Club Championship were presented by Herman Conradie of head-line sponsors Petro-Canada Lubricants, while the top driver in each of the four categories received a bespoke watch from Shami Kalra of Omologato.
The 2019 calendars for Porsche Club Motorsport’s popular and varied championships will be released shortly.
