Donington Park Track Day a great success

The Porsche Club held its first Donington Park Track Day since 2012 last week and what a great day it was. We had the 'gap in the weather' which provided for lovely sunshine all day. That always helps to make the day feel better and we also had a great bunch of people on the day with a terrific mix of cars.

The fact that it was an 'unlimited noise' day meant we were able to accommodate a few cars that would not ordinarily get on track. These cars provided for a little extra 'spectacle' whilst fitting in with the rules and the spirit of the day.

Aside from two minor incidents - a mechanical issue and a brief gravel trap visit - the day ran without unplanned stoppages.

This was partly aided by running fewer cars on the day, with less traffic and almost no waiting to get on-track - a feature of Porsche Club Track Days.

We have uploaded photos to a gallery on the motorsport website. We have also sent photo contact sheets / order forms to all drivers on the day, where we could identify the cars. We struggled to identify some due to taped up registration plates. Check the gallery and you can contact the photographer - Jim Gaisford - by email -

A very big thank you to all the drivers who attended the day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was a great event, with everybody seeming to share the same, cheerful, friendly and considerate approach to the event.

Our next Track Day is next week (9th August) at Goodwood. This day is fully booked and all drivers on the day will be treated to a buffet lunch provided by Goodwood Circuit, on the first floor of the Jackie Stewart Centre, overlooking the pit lane. This proved to be a popular feature of our first day at the circuit in May.

We now have only two days remaining on which we are able to offer confirmed places. These are:

Croft in North Yorkshire on Thursday 17th August. This day is being supported by Strasse in Leeds and is almost full.

Oulton Park in Cheshire on Wednesday 15th November. This day usually books closer to the event, but this year the level of booking is stronger than in past seasons and again is almost full.

We are also helping to run an additional Track Day at Goodwood on 7th October - the day after our last Goodwood day on 6th October. This additional day is being run in aid of Charity and can only be booked online. There are still places available via the Club's main website. If you want to attend, go to the address shwown here -
