The Porsche Club Motorsport season formally drew to a close last Saturday night, November 11th, with the annual awards evening at the Hilton Puckrup Hall Hotel near Tewkesbury. The champions and top three in class of all three of the Club’s motorsport series were honoured, and the evening was attended by valued sponsors from Petro-Canada Lubricants and Pirelli – while the overall champions of each series was awarded with a bespoke watch from sponsor BRM Chronographes.
Former champion Mark McAleer claimed the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli title, ten years after last winning it, after a close fought battle with Mark Sumpter, while uniquely, class two was won by his son Jake.
Newcomer David Dyson was the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Speed Championship with Pirelli champion, taking the first title with the club for Porsche’s latest variant of the 911, the 991.
In the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club National Hillclimb Championship, the experienced Paul Howells sealed his championship win at the final round after an exciting season of competition.
“The standard of competition in all our series has been superb this year,” said Porsche Club Motorsport Manager Steve Kevlin, “and just to watch everyone in action has been a delight. The great thing is that however competitive it has been on track, sprint or hillclimb, the spirit of each series and the camaraderie between everyone involved has been a pleasure to see.”
2018 dates for all three Porsche Club Motorsport series will be announced shortly.
