Graham Rose is awarded the Porsche Club Speed Champion trophy for 2011
Mon, 31/10/2011 - 10:46 | by Steve KevlinGraham Rose retains Speed Championship Title
Mon, 10/10/2011 - 14:50 | by Steve KevlinThe unusually warm and dry weather in much of England meant that the final round of the Speed Championship on 1st October was a glorious, sun-drenched gathering at Prescott hill climb in the Cotswolds. Fifteen Championship drivers enjoyed four runs on this prestigious but technically difficult hill climb. The day went well without too much incident other than the low, bright afternoon sun lining up perfectly with the sight-line on Prescott start and slightly restricting visibility.
The Speed Championship returns to Curborough
Fri, 30/09/2011 - 13:26 | by Steve KevlinSunday 25th September marked a return to Curborough after our last round there in May 2007 on a particularly cold and wet day of competition. Unfortunately, for much of last Sunday, that weather returned to make the circuit very slippery, especially in the practice sessions. By the afternoon’s final run, however, the weather warmed up a little and the track had dried enough to see some very quick times being put in.
Graham Rose smashes Class Record in Speed Championship at Loton Park
Wed, 14/09/2011 - 08:34 | by Steve KevlinWe returned to Loton Park in Shropshire for the second time this season on Saturday 10th September. This popular but challenging hill climb provided a day of close competition, unexpectedly good weather and a great turnout. Eighteen drivers entered and completed the day without too much drama but with plenty of excitement and some very fast times.
Porsche Club Speed Championship – Goodwood 6th August 2011
Thu, 11/08/2011 - 14:43 | by Steve KevlinThe high speed, 2.4 mile Goodwood Circuit was the venue for the ninth round of the PCGB Speed Championship last weekend. Despite the threat of rain all day, both practice and two timed runs were on a dry track with eleven drivers attending.
Porsche Club Speed Championship – Shelsley Walsh 23rd July 2011
Thu, 28/07/2011 - 15:36 | by Steve KevlinThe eighth round of the Speed Championship ran on Saturday at the high-speed hill at Shelsley Walsh in Worcestershire. This venerable, 1000 yard course offers spectacular views for the spectator and a fast, challenging course for the competitors. Warm, dry conditions on the day gave the drivers a great opportunity to really push themselves and we finished the day with close competition across all classes and one new class record.
Speed Championship at Castle Combe June 2011
Thu, 30/06/2011 - 08:09 | by Steve KevlinThe seventh round of the Porsche Club Speed Championship took place at Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire last weekend. Sixteen drivers attended on a day that remained dry but overcast for most the competition although the first practice run was on a relatively slippery surface because of overnight rain. An unfortunate and extensive spillage of oil by a previous competitor just before the timed sessions affected most of the racing line between Quarry Corner and The Esses.
Gurston Down 18th June 2011
Tue, 21/06/2011 - 10:17 | by Steve KevlinHeavy rain showers and unseasonably cool temperatures meant that competitors were never going to trouble existing class records on the sixth Porsche Club Speed Championship round at the fast and challenging Gurston Down hill climb in Wiltshire. Despite the wet weather, however, we still saw some very tight and close competition amongst the fourteen drivers attending.
