For Sale - Porsche 968, New Build Race Car (1993) - £19,500 - No Photo - For Sale
I am close to completion of a new build Porsche 968 race car. I currently own and race the 'orange' 968 EMC racecar in the UK Porsche Club Championship. The car I am now offering for sale is complete and unused with all the correct parts to go racing. This was to be my spare car but I am now reluctantly putting it up for sale. It will not be road legal, so has to be trailered if you want it for race or trackday use.
NB No pictures at the moment as the windscreen and front wings are just going on the car, watch this space when the photos are added soon.
The specification is as follows:
SHELL. Freshly dipped, etched and painted shell with a Safety Devices cage by EMC, finished in white. Donor car was an undamaged road car. The car will be comfortably underweight for PCGB racing, so the ballast position can be optimised to suit the weight of the new driver.
SUSPENSION. MO30 arb's, GAZ 2-way remote dampers serviced by Ian Gardiner with the right spring rates. Most components blasted and either powder coated or replated. New Hartech motorsport front wishbones, castor mounts and torque tube mounts.
BRAKES etc Almost new MO30 front calipers, car will be supplied with new discs and Performance Friction '97' race pads when sold. Castrol SRF hydraulic fluid throughout.
BODYWORK Club Autosport raceweight GRP panels for the bonnet, wings and cills. Headlight delete with blanking panels. Roof panel bonded into the car for lightness and strength. New front windscreen. Front and rear PU's, door handles, wing mirrors and the rear spoiler are in a contrasting Horizon Blue colour.
WHEELS The car will be supplied with one set of the correct OEM Cup 2 wheels finished in matt black. Extra length wheel studs have been fitted with steel nuts to enable spacers up to 25mm to be used. The wheels will be shod with used Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres, suitable for PCGB racing.
EXHAUST Full lightweight stainless steel Cargraphic system with de-cat.
ENGINE Recently stripped, checked and re-assembled with new parts as necessary by marque specialists Ninex Motorsport. Fully synthetic ester based FUCHS PRO S oil. Bill for £2400 available for inspection.
TRANSAXLE/GEARBOX. New KAAZ 1.5 way plate LSD, gearbox checked as good by EMC. Cleaned exterior now painted white. Linkages refurbished to eliminate play.
FLYWHEEL & CLUTCH New EMC lightweight 'single mass' steel flywheel to 964RS pattern plus new SACHS clutch and pressure plate.
INSIDE Wiring loom stripped back to the basics, new instrument panel with cut off switches and push start. New lightweight battery by Odyssey, battery cut out, fire extinguisher and external pull handles to suit. New race seat with the original pre-airbag steering wheel.
Phew that was a long list! I hope that gives you an idea of the comprehensive specification of the car. The car is currently at Ninex Motorsport in Maidenhead where any inspection can be organised, tel No 01628 633088. Additionally, if you have any extra requirements for the car, these could be incorporated at your cost prior to sale. Delivery can be made to anywhere in mainland UK with a nominal charge for the fuel used at 30p/mile on the round trip.
Just so you know I have been a Porsche 968 owner for about 10 years and am currently the Assistant Register Secretary for 968's in Porsche Club GB. I have raced with these cars for almost 4 years and this car is built to incorporate all the things that are known to work best.
