Mark McAleer has been the man to beat in the 2010 Porsche Club Championship, the Yorkshire racer unbeaten so far after four races, his 968 CS taking double victories at Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park. The 2007 champion has stiff opposition in Class One, with reigning double champion Jez Clark learning his new 968 by the race, as well as a host of other former race winners snapping at McAleer’s heels.

A key aspect of Class One is the battle between the front-engined 968s, and the rear-engined 911 derivatives. The rear engined cars are quicker off the line at the start of the race, with Marcus Carniel storming into the lead from the second row at Cadwell. The front-engined cars tend to be kinder on their tyres, but with rear-engined cars in the hands of suck rapid racers as Carniel, Mark Sumpter and Kevin Harrison, they should shine in the opening laps.

Also upholding 968 honour is the experienced Pete Morris, back in Porsche racing after sampling GTs, Miles Maserati , quick in his first season in a 968, and if Richard Higgins can solve the teething troubles with his newly built up car, he should be back in the mix.

Class Two has seen three wins from Chris Dyer, the Keighley racer another Yorkshireman to be racking up the victories!
