The first round of the Petro-Canada Lubricants Porsche Club Speed Championship with Pirelli took place at Croft Circuit on Easter Monday. What a great day it was too.
A good entry of sixteen competitors were greeted by what turned out to be a lovely sunny day which, although it threatened rain on occasions, stayed dry all day. In fact, with the benefit of hindsight, it was actually reasonably warm.
Those competitors who were at Croft were issued with their Championship jacket for this year and pics are on the website - http://www.porscheclubmotorsport.co.uk/gallery/speed_championship/2017 - showing the competitors looking resplendent in the new colours.
Some very competitive times were posted and a number of new circuit records were set (I was reliably informed !!). Congratulations to all who took part and put on such a terrific display. The cars are well prepared and with a couple of exceptions, they performed faultlessly.
A big thank you also to Karl Lupton who was attending as a ‘spectator’, but assisted a number of competitors in resolving mechanical issues.
The results from the meeting are attached along with the points scored, but below are listed the Class winners following this first round of the year.
Class 1 David Dyson
Class 2 Ian Wadsworth
Class 3 Justin Mather
Class 4 Stephen Jory
We also took the opportunity to weigh the cars during the day. A few of the cars were closer to the minimum weights than the driver’s had anticipated and the measured weights are shown, printed on the rear of this letter. We will take the opportunity to re-check weights at some stage later in the season – to check progress.
