Porsche Club Track Days
About Track Days
with ClassicLine Insurance

During 2007 the Porsche Club ran more Track Days than it has ever run, with 25 days in total. For 2008 a similar number of days is being run, with days at the more popular venues and a few additional events. We will be running one ‘model specific’ day at Castle Combe on 26th April for the Boxster / Cayman models, repeating of the day we ran last year. In addition, the Club is planning a Track Day at Silverstone on the National Circuit (July 28th) which will be for pre-74 cars.

We will be repeating all of the events that proved popular last year including the days that were new in the programme Croft and Oulton Park. In addition, we will be adding a new date at Pembrey, South Wales in September (4th) following requests from those Club members who like this challenging circuit.

Where possible, we have maintained prices at or around 2007 levels. Some of our days, including Castle Combe, Goodwood and Snetterton, are planned for their ‘Winter Period’ which allows us to offer days at reduced cost to members. Experience has shown that the weather is often very good at that time of year, but the major benefit is that circuit hire costs are reduced, with the cost saving being passed on to the members. In 2007 we ran four days in November and they proved to be very popular and the weather was very good. This year we will also be running four days in the November period, with attendant lower charges.

Our Croft day has been a great success for the past two years, largely due to the support of the local specialists, Strasse. They will be supporting our Croft day again in 2008, which has been moved to June and hopefully will provide for even better weather.

In response to very positive feedback from Club members, all of our Goodwood days will be run with just 25 cars booked on the day and the Castle Combe days with only 35 cars. This has proved to be popular as it allows for more track time, despite the slightly higher cost brought about by increased circuit hire fees.
We are able to send Track Day dates to those who request them, by e-mail. This year’s dates will have already been mailed to those on the mailing list. If you would like to receive any future updates by e-mail, just forward your e-mail address to trackdays@porscheclubgb.com.

Seven of our days this year will be on Saturdays. For the first time ever, we will also be running a Track Day on a Sunday, as one of two days we will be running at Donington Park. The second of the Donington Park days will be a noisy day in October, allowing us to cater for cars with noisier exhausts including 997 GT3 models. In addition, we will have two full days at Brands Hatch (Indy Circuit) one in June and one in August. Our traditional and popular Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit day remains in the programme and this year is on 11th July.

All of our days apart from Goodwood and Castle Combe will be run ‘Open Pitlane’. That is to say that, aside from the first hour of the day when drivers will be grouped according to track day experience, drivers will be able to go on track when they choose, subject to the number of cars on track. This type of day is very popular with the membership, as it allows for the potential of lots of track time and a relaxed day.

Three of our Castle Combe dates will be run to the higher noise limit of 105dbA (normally 100dbA). This higher limit will also apply to all other venues, (except Donington Park on the Sunday and Bedford, which are governed by a drive-by test).
